I gotta admit, I'm a bit over Michael Moore.
Bowling for Columbine was fun, as it actually brought down the psychotic hype about Marilyn Manson and the Columbine massacre.
Fahrenheit 9/11 was also kinda fun - for once, we had a mainstream film genuinely interested in why the world hates America.
Sicko would have been shocking, if we didn't already know that the USA treats its own citizens like shit.
So now we have Capitalism: A Love Story - Moore's documentary about the GFC.
*eh*
Again, we already know about the horrific distance between the rich and the poor in America. We already know that Wall Street was allowed to run its own game in the pursuit of money. We already know that their idea of democracy has long been run by lobbyists, oil, tobacco and ultimately, the greenback.
Of course, I'll still go and see it. I just wanted to whinge a little bit.
you me and everybody. he's just so sarcastic and *smug*. i just watched the trailer for his new movie and his attitude completely put me off.
ReplyDeleteYeh - Admittedly, he does come up with some interesting subject matter, but I agree - it's the attitude that ruins it.
ReplyDeleteSmug's no fun. But while "we" know about the GFC's causes, the appalling state of US health etc, there's millions of Americans who don't - and many of them respond to that kind of character. So more power to him, I say! (Sometimes only the left can hear the discourse of the left. This does us no good.)
ReplyDeleteToo true, Esther - I do forget sometimes that there is still a large part of the population out there that doesn't 'know' all this :)
ReplyDeleteMichael Moore was awesome in Team America.
ReplyDeletemy 14 year old son watched sicko at school - he learnt a lot and was really influenced by it.
ReplyDeletei have to admit that i'm pretty sick of michael moore, but there is something about the audacity of a fat rich man being smug and uppity towards other fat rich men that makes me giggle.
