Westpac explains things with pretty pictures and shiny lights

Are you fucking kidding me?!?! This is what passes for customer communication practice in one of Australia's biggest banks? A condescending, patronising, simplistic explanation for why banks need to rape their customers of fees the second the Reserve Bank puts up their rates?

If this video was intended to incite people to riot and burn down Westpac branches, mission accomplished.

  1. They really could lower and cap CEO and executive sallaries.... Saves the bank money and benefits the consumers! if those executives really care about the consumers they will work equally as hard under the pay cuts.

  2. PS. I never wanted the government to spend monies I paid in taxes to bail out Westpac. I have no interest in the business and I don't bank with them. If westpac choose to give out so much to managers and shareholders, and will continue to do so then they have themselves to blame for squandering away their profits! Why do I want my taxes to ensure their CEO will continue receiving a huge remuneration package?

  3. They shoulda said something more along the lines of 'we needed to increase costs to you now to ensure we can give you the savings in the future' then cast uncertainty over the other banks' rate movements in the future.

  4. Yeah we tried to put forward legislation in the Senate that would curb excessive CEO salary - strangely enough, didn't go down well with a cashed up ALP and Liberal party.
